Why “AI Operators” are becoming a separate class of candidates

Over the past weeks, we’ve talked about:

AI as leverage
AI as the baseline

Now we need to update that again:

👉 The job market is splitting in two (or three)

Right now, there are:

👉 Non-AI Users (who are all going to lose their jobs)

👉 AI Users
👉 AI Operators

Most people are still here:

👉 Primitive AI Users

They:
• use ChatGPT occasionally
• ask basic questions
• generate simple content

But a new group is emerging:

👉 AI Operators

They:
• integrate AI into everything they do
• build workflows around AI
• use multiple models (Claude, OpenAI, etc.)
• operate their own AI agents

Two candidates:

❌ Uses AI sometimes
✅ Operates AI systems daily

Same experience.
Completely different output.

👉 The shift:

Before:
AI = tool

Now:
AI = system

👉 What this means:

If you are not operating AI as a system:

👉 …you are competing at a lower level. Your salary will be lower. You risk losing your job (or never finding one).

And here’s the uncomfortable part:

Most people use AI like this:

Operators use AI like this:

👉 Task → AI workflow → refined output → reuse system
